Henderson County Retired School Personnel Association
Welcome
Henderson County Retired School Personnel Association is a service organization which includes and serves all of Henderson County.
We promote partnership with schools in addressing mentoring and providing stimulus and incentives in reading by participating in TRTA’s Book Project and providing books to children who might not have a book of their own at home. We also award college scholarships to deserving students majoring in education.
Meeting the second Wednesday of every month from September through May provides us with interesting and informative programs to enhance our social and healthy well-being. Members are encouraged to voluntarily give their time, talents, training and experience for the furtherance of education and civic endeavors in the community. One of our most enjoyable volunteer activities is hosting Bingo at a local rehab/healthcare facility in Athens.
Our united advocacy for improved retirement benefits for all public and higher education retirees is important, as is participation in TRTA’s Foundation. TRTF provides public education retirees with financial assistance for a one-time special need or short-term hardship.
We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, September thru May at Athens First Methodist Church in Athens, Texas.
